When most people think of the ‘spine’, they envision a bunch of bones and attaching muscles. We often forget that one of the most important functions of the bony spinal column is to protect the ever-important spinal cord, a major part of our central nervous system.

The nervous system controls every cell of your body. Nerve impulses from the brain flow down the spinal cord and out the spinal nerves, traveling to every single organ and tissue. Impulses sent back to the brain confirm that the body is working properly. The moving bones of the spine can interfere with this exchange. Choked or irritated nerves can decrease or distort these messages. Without proper nervous system control and monitoring, ill health results. Chiropractic care helps restore the integrity of the nervous system. This has helped people with a variety of health problems.

Many of our patients find that regular chiropractic care help them manage the physical stress of daily life. Unlike any other animal on the planet, we are no longer living and constantly moving outdoors. Modern society has improved human quality of life immensely, however, that’s not to say that it hasn’t come with some downfalls. Human spinal posture has suffered greatly, due to sitting, bending and repetitive activities. The consequent strain on the spine and nervous system has made back pain the leading form of pain and disability in the world. This can also, inevitably, lead to dysfunctions throughout the entire body.

At Squires Family Chiropractic, we aim to be an integral piece in our patients’ wellness strategy. The body is designed to naturally heal itself through the actions of the nervous system and immune system. Unfortunately, however, we often bombard these systems with daily stressors, decreasing the efficiency of these two systems and allowing the body to succumb to distress; PHYSICAL stressors (sitting too much, old injuries, improper movements), CHEMICAL stressors (processed foods, sugar, medications, toxins) and EMOTIONAL stressors (arguing, worrying, negative thoughts, etc). It is our mission to educate our patients and provide them with the tools needed to function at an optimal level. And we start by ensuring the spine is moving properly and the nervous system is communicating without interference. As it is designed to do.
